Fine Arts Our main task as Christians is to glorify God, and music is a primary tool for accomplishing that goal. Our students have many different opportunities to make music via vocal choirs, handbell choirs, and private lessons. All of our elementary students participate in the one of the two elementary vocal choirs. Our 7th and 8th graders all participate in junior high music class where they learn music theory and apply that knowledge through singing and ringing in a handbell choir. For our 9th-12th graders, we offer the Ministry Team, a vocal choir with a special emphasis on individual ministry. We also offer a handbell choir for 9th-12th grades, which provide an opportunity for advanced ringing and other unique ministry opportunities. Entrance to both these 9th-12th groups is through auditions held each spring.Each March, EHCS participates in the Bible Academic and Fine Arts (BAFA) regional competition held at Tri-City Ministries. All music groups (from 4th grade up) participate in this competition. We also compete in Art, Speech, Preaching, Spanish, and many other areas. EHCS offers speech classes, as well as a high school plays and elementary programs each year, giving our students the opportunity to learn to communicate more effectively. Art instruction is offered in 1st-12th grades. All students in 1st-8th grades receive basic instruction in art, with more advanced instruction in art offered as an elective to high school students. |
