At EHCS we believe that sports are an important tool in character development. The court and playing field both offer excellent opportunities to demonstrate self-control and good sportsmanship. Though the Eagles are tough competitors, the coaches emphasize individual accountability to God as well as to teammates. In the fall, the Lady Eagles take the court with some exciting bumps, sets and spikes!! Volleyball practice beings in the summer with Coach Lee drilling the girls on the fundamentals of the game. While our ladies are practicing in the “cool” gym, the men are out in the “hot” dog days of summer, drilling the various aspects of soccer, under the direction of Coach Wilkes. Our athletic directors, Coach Brian Irving and Coach Kerri Barra, schedule well-rounded volleyball and soccer seasons, which culminate with the MidAmerican Association of Christian Schools (MAACS) regional tournament and MetroChristian Athletic Association (MCAA) league tournament. All year round our students work faithfully for a chance to try out for the Eagles Basketball teams. The coaches require diligent exercise and Bible study to determine eligibility. Coach Scherbenske and Coach Barra both desire that our students grow in wisdom, stature and favor with God and man. The Eagles’ basketball season lasts from late November through the end of February, culminating with the MAACS and MCAA tournaments.
