Comments from our Congregation Coming to
Eagle Heights has helped me open the door to a whole new life for my
family and me. Since I started coming to Eagle Heights, I have learned
what God expects from me as a wife and mother. I have also learned that
God's love is there no matter what has happened. He was waiting for me
and He is waiting for you. I lived a lie
for so long it was second nature to me. One lie piled on another until
it became a way of life. Years of running from responsibility had caused
huge weights of guilt. Our financial burdens got so bad my wife had
stopped answering the phone for fear it would be another bill collector.
How could I climb out of the horrible pit of depression I had fallen
into? They showed me from the Bible at Eagle Heights and now our lives
have been changed. My chief
desire as a young person was to be happy and have a purpose for my life.
If I had a good job and great pay, all my problems would be solved.
After high school, I tried college but failed after three years. Later
in the army, I had time to evaluate my life, consider God and wonder if
I could be truly happy. While working at the post office, I started
wondering how I could make a million dollars so I could retire at 55. My
uncle won about $150,000 shortly before he died which made me think -
what if I die and where will I go? Shortly afterward, my sister invited
me to church. I went forward one Sunday to repent of my sins and ask
Christ to come into my heart as Savior. I woke up one
morning and realized my life was a mess. I was a drunk and a very
self-centered man. I could hardly stand the guilt. I was empty and
miserable and didn't know what to do about it. I tried going to church,
reading the Bible and positive thinking, but nothing relieved my guilt
and pain. Finally, in desperation, I cried out to God, "Please send
help!" Two men from church came to my home and showed me how to have my
sins forgiven. That night I received Jesus Christ as my Savior. It seemed
like all my life, I was always looking for something but never finding
it. I looked all around, but never looked up! Eagle Heights helped me to
find Jesus Christ! Once you are saved, it's not enough, you want to
change. Eagle Heights is a Bible "teaching" church. You learn
constantly. You learn how to do things right and you learn what the
Bible has to say about every aspect of life and living. I have learned
that God's Word is true. And having a church family to help you grow and
help you when trials do come means everything to me.
